16 Drug Traffickers Arrested During Week

The Counter Narcotics Justice Center (CNJC) reported the arrest of 16 drug traffickers during last week.
In a press release, the justice center stated that an Afghan woman and a citizen of Iran were among the detainees.
There were arrested at Hamid Karzai International Airport, and in Badakhshan, Nimroz, Herat, Nangarhar, Parwan and Helmand provinces while they were carrying drugs with them.
274 kg of heroin, 62 kg of opium, 682 kg of hashish, more than 11 of liter alcoholic beverages, and 11 mobile phones along with 9 vehicles were seized from the arrestees.
The Afghan women among the detainees is 42 years old and she was arrested by the police along with her son in jabal Seraj district of Parwan province based on detective intelligence, but the woman claims she didn’t know about the drugs placed in her car.
She argues she has a master degree from a foreign country and has worked for international and civil society organizations in the country. She also states she ran for a seat in Baghlan provincial council in last elections.
